The British Institute is an English language school which is accredited by the Cambridge Assessment English, a department of the University of Cambridge, as an assessment centre for its main suite of English language competence examinations and its main initial teacher training qualification, the CELTA.

Alligan Algérie, with the support of the British Embassy in Algiers and the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is working to open a British International School in Algiers.  The School will provide for 5 to 18 year olds.  The children will be taught in English.  At the ages of 16 and 18 respectively, the students will take the international GCSEs (IGCSE) and the "A" levels of the University of Cambridge.  Algerian students will be able to take the Algerian B.E.M. and Baccalaureate at the ages of 15 and 18 years.
